about to start ordering brake stuff.
What all do I need to figure out BEFORE I order anything. I am guessing my drums can be turned, well let me rephrase that......I am HOPING my drums can be turned. There, much better and truthful haha. I am just doing manual drums as the truck is going closer to stock for now. I see autozone sells "all in one" brake kits to rebuild the drums, which seems like it is my ticket for INTERNAL parts, minus the shoes. No biggy there. What I am wondering is, what else do I need? New lines more than likely, wheel cylinders, what else? Anything special for the e-brake?

Spring and hardware kits. Wheel cyl's. Shoes.
You can measure the drums with a tape. .060= 1/16".
Brk. fluid, moly grease, BEER, bandaids, and your choice of
background music.
You can use dawn as cleaning solvent. Kinda expensive nowdays.
The spraycan brake cleaners work pretty good. Just don't get any
in your eyeballs. Kinda painfull.

A brake tool would help too. Looks like an awl that's bent on the end. Makes hooking up springs easier.

tool guys said they quit makin the combo tool. Frustrating

I'll have to look, it's been years since I bought one. I found that pic on ebay, currently $8 with no bids.

I kinda thought the same leadfoot. Specially on a part with that much friction...
How much room do I have for material loss on the drums, for machining, or having to buy new? I may go pick up all this stuff today, minus the hoses/lines.

Unless they are new (or nearly new), I would strongly encourage you to buy new rubber brake hoses. I skimped on that a while back and have problems with my truck pulling to the side when the brakes are applied. EVERYTHING else was new. Buy new hoses. They are around $18 a piece.

Oh I feel so bad and pray for the kid out here in WA who immolated himself with a gasoline accident a few days ago. He got got completely burned, and died yesterday I believe. Always be extremely careful with gas. As for your brakes, its a nasty job, be careful of springs popping, breathing brake lining dust, slipping with the tools, and dont let the brake cylinders pop out on you if youre not going to replace them.
Also if you get lost as to the re-assembly, remember you can look at the other wheel to see how it goes back together.

re: about to start ordering brake stuff.
I used to use gas as solvent all the time. Years back I had a guy that did odd jobs after work for extra dough. I remember dropping him off @ his place after work Friday afternoon, got a call from his sister early Saturday morning. Seems the guy was doing something with paint thinner and the can blew up. The family pulled the plug a couple of week later, he never came to.
I find it best to learn from other people's mistakes lest they become mine, so I don't use gas as solvent anymore.

re: about to start ordering brake stuff.
If you HAVENT bought everything yet, go to rockauto.com and order parts there. That is if you can wait a few days for shipping.
I saved almost $175 on all my front brake parts, minus a few things I had to get locally, and that INCLUDES the shipping cost. Of course, I bought suspension parts too, and that was a big chunk of change (around $200 worth, I think) but its worth.
If you do buy there, use this discount code, 635098574900 in the "how did you here of us" box.
Good for an extra 5% off.
