Best rim size?

Post by Darrman »

I am already looking at new rims for my truck, I know the lug pattern is 5x5.5, but what is the ideal size for the hotrod/muscle look, that is practical?
The truck already has some mild customs on it, some 15x7 steel wagon wheels, rusted to crap, but they are american racing wheels. They look too small, needs to be wider.
So I am thinking"
15x8 or possibly 15x10 - 3 3/4 backspace
16's?
I am not sure of what backspacing you can have without rubbing the frame or fender.
Any help would be apreciated, thanks!

18's and a nice thick tire always looks good. not too big, not tiny either. cash though. you can get a solid tire for them, and not be "low profile" but a street look to them.

I've got a full set of aluminum slots 5 on 5-1/2" , they are 15"x8" (tape shows almost 8-1/2) with 3-3/4" backspacing . Used this guide to measure http://www.wheelvintiques.com/pdfs/wheel_fitment.pdf.

They are rough but I think they would clean up (with some work) the one below I just snapped a pic of while I was measuring,is the one I've messed with a little ,rinsed it off and hit it with wire brass brush and a little with steel wool just piddlin .

Send me a pm anyone interested
