C4 After storage

I a couple months I plan to mate my 302 and C4 back together. The tranny has been in storage for about 6 years and it had a fresh rebuild less than 500 miles before I pulled it. It has been in warm storage in a friends garage. My question is, will I need to do anything besides a fluid change before I run it or can storing them for long periods dry out the seals or hurt any other parts inside the tranny?

Probably not good if it were stored empty. Most paper and rubber seals will dry out over time. The trans fluid helps keep these seals soft. You can try it though. If you ran it for 500 miles you may still be ok. All it take to run a trans is a small crack in a seal though.

Has it been sitting all this time with the converter on it? If so I'd at least replace the front seal as the converter sags on it when it's not bolted to the engine.

Only the fluid that came out the tailshaft was taken out and the torque converter was stored separately. I will most likely put a new front seal, tailshaft seal and pan gasket on for safe measures.

Make sure the torque convertor has some oil in it, (prime it).
