Power steering gear?

Post by gonzalo medina »

How hard is it to do the seals on a sig box? I heard those boxes last forever but since it's for a restoration, I figuire the least I could do is the seals to prevent future leaks.

The lower one is easy and quick. The top one you gotta pull the box.
It's not to bad of a job. Youre gonna need a puller to get the pitman
arm off. Some snap ring pliers.

To do the lower one, take the arm off, take the snap ring out, put pan
under the box. Start it up and turn the wheel one way or the other till
it stops. Will pop the seal out into the pan. Shut off. Put new seal in.
While your there, might as well run a couple qt's of atf through it too
flush it.

No. Thats how I do it. You will need a puller. The arm is a press fit.
