The outer bearing that came with the disc hub has a larger outside diameter than the drum one. The inside diameter is the same.

re: F350 disc conversion update
So you would need an outer bearing from where ever the hub came from. So you can reuse your old inner bearing (wouldn't sugest that) and use the "new" outer bearing from a 75 F250 w/ discs (if you got the parts from a 75 F250). Is the above correct?
Also, I will throw out my specific question. I have disc brakes from a 70 F350 crew cab. I want to put them on a 72 F250 that has drums. All I need are the hubs/brackets/calipers/proportioning valve and the F350 disc outer bearing. Correct? Just want to make sure.
thanks
Austin

Austin,
As far as I know you are correct. If you actually make the conversion, take pictures and confirm for us.

re: F350 disc conversion update
I got a close look at an '80 F350 front end today. (see http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... hp?t=22155 ) The front suspension is completely different. The tie rod is in front of the Ibeams, not in back like our trucks. The spindle and caliper mount are one piece, I guess, more like the F100, but I've never seen one to compare. The hub and rotor looked about the same as did the caliper itself. So, I'd say we are limited to '79 for the complete bolt on conversion that I described 4 pages back. I didn't take pictures because I didn't have the time and I figured that they wouldn't help us anyway. I did however score 6 wheels for $50!!
