Shocks for dropped 67

Post by floss67 »

Hey folks,

Looking for some help as a first timer here. I currently have a 67 SWB 2WD that is rebuilt back up to a rolling chasse. I dropped the rear about 3". However, I used the frame from a '71 to do this project(confused yet?) and the rear shocks bracket on the top (where the shock attaches to the frame) is the loop type that requires a shock stud. Two questions:

Do I have to use a shorter shock since the rear is lowered? If so, what's a good set of shocks to get? :?

Most places that you get the shocks from will know for shure if you need to get a lowered shock try summit or jegs they have good costomer service.

The edelbrock IAS are supposed to be the best right now but they are pricey, the ranchero 5000 or 9000 are good shockes to get
I can take it apart, but getting it back together is another story!

Whenever I need special application shocks, I just use the NAPA application guide. Since Monroe makes them for NAPA I assume they print one too. This book not only gives all the applications but you can go to the back and find the exact compressed and extended lengths and the type of mounting. Sometimes it takes a bit of research but I have always been able to come up with just what I need.
Once I needed some coilovers to lift the rear of a Subaru swamp buggy and found that early Ford Aerostar were just what I needed.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
