West Coast Mirrors

I have a 1969 LWB. It has a set of stock sideview mirrors. They are in good shape, too. I saw a set of west coast mirrors(fomoco) on Ebay and purchased them for 45 bucks. Now how to install them. There are two holes at the top of the doors where maybe peep style mirrors used to go and have been filled with bondo since. Also, beneath the stock mirrors are threaded nuts attached to the sheet metal of the door which protrude just a hair above the door. It is to these that the mounting screws attach the mirrors to the door. Also, between these two nuts is a 1" hole for what reason I do not know. It looks factory, though.

How do I attach my west coast mirrors? What does a factory set up look like? Did they attach these things at the factory? Is there a way to do this without permanently removing the mounting nuts for the stock mirrors. Is there a cover that could go there, maybe?

I did the opposite of what you did...I didn't like the blind spots caused by the camper mirrors so I went to the small,almost useless,sport mirrors which is what your original ones must have been...

If your new mirrors are Ford camper mirrors,there will be two holes to hold the nuts at the top part of the bracket on;one will be in line with the wing window frame at the top of the door,and the second hole toward the rear...Then you probably have to use a plumb or something to line up the bottom holes of the bracket so the mirror frame is mounted straight...Or eyeball it....If you bought aftermarket west coast mirrors,forget what I just said...
