Paint

Post by alvinator »

Ok, I am getting ready to paint my truck. It will be a base of Dark Blue Metallic/Pearl (custom color). I am thinking that I want more than just Dark Blue. Other than the normal two-tone paint, has anyone seen or have ideas of a custom paint scheme for our model trucks? If you have a pic, that would be nice too.

I have no ideas outside the two-tone, but I'm thinking a metallic pearl white with the pearl blue might really look sharp...

Or... since you call your truck "blue thunder", I've seen folks with airbrushed murals on their tailgates... something subtle that looks like storm clouds might be neat.

I was thinking dark metallic blue and pearly white. I think this is a members truck - but darker blue with blue cab also.

Red and black look nice too. I'm going with a medium blue over white rattle can on the current truck.

Here is a pic of mine photoshopped in red and black. I think this with red leather will be a nice combo.

i think a gun metal gray top with a black bottom would look cool, with chrome triming on the 'bump'

after talking with my friend that is gonna put in my stereo, I think I am gonna try and go with some blue flames on the truck. The base will be dark blue and then try blue ghost like flames on the truck. My stereo is being put in by my friend, who does show cars and trucks, and will build me a custom box behind the seat with my subs and mids with LED lighting and glass with the box. He said he could have the light blink with the beat of the music (think that would be a bit too much for me). He will build a box with flames to match the flames on the outside of the truck. I hope it turns out good.

I'd skip the flashing lights unless you want your truck to look like a tuner car... may as well add a buzz muffler.

Seriously, I think subtle ground effects lights on a LOWERED truck look okay, or just mild interior accent lighting, but lights flickering to the music might drive you insane.

we would install a switch to turn the lights on and off. That way I can turn it on at a show event or hanging with friends.

I read the custom classic trucks mags a lot, and one REALLY cool trend i have seen is airbrushed chrom trim. The chrom molding that goes down the side, insted of putting that on have it airbrushed on. It also serves as a good place to divide a two tone paint scheme.

Funny... someone suggested that to me for my truck. I'd have to see it, though. I would only think it would look "right" on a hot rod.
