Greetings from Heath Ahia - Updated with a picture
... that's 'Ohio' for youse that ain't from around here.
Man am I glad I found this Forum... nice to see folks sharing the same level of enthusiasm and frustration over them 'ol Ford pick 'em ups.
Some background so's you know why I'm so ignorant.
My dad was a Ford man - He had an old Ford truck (Ford everything actually - 'cept a couple tractors - but that's another story). He died when I was very young and I lost my way. I drove Chevy's and GMC's and rice burners for a long time.
One day at work, I'm blowin' smoke about getting me an old Chevy C-10 with a small block and a short bed ('cause them Chevy's look stupid with a long bed). This feller whom I'm aquainted with tells me he'll sell his old truck - but it's a Ford longbed.
Long story short - I was looking at pitchers online of longbed Ford's - and found them to be good. Then I read me some articles and got the scoop on this phenomina called the "Ford FE Engine" and it too was good.
So I bought the Ford - and now I've become my dad - with an old Ford truck and not much newer than the one he had!

re: Greetings from Heath Ahia
Here's a pic. This was taken about a week ago - it's still sitting at the previous owner's place (he's a good friend, so we're in no hurry to bring it my place - I still got a LOT of cleaning to do in the garage). By the way, this is the "good side" of the truck.
Previous owner calls it a Camper Special - but it's missing the badges. My only visual clues are the mirrors and sliding window (assuming both are factory).
VIN tag claims Boxwood Green, but it appears someone wanted it to be a different shade of green and a two-tone as well.
VIN tag claims it's a 360. Previous owner says 390. I'll measure the stroke when I get the chance to verify. One really nice thing about it, it already has a Holley 4bbl and Holley intake manifold on it -I'm a pretty practical/utilitarian type guy and see no need to change them out for some other brand.
It does have one hella-huge oil leak on the top-side - oil is sprayed everywhere - more troubleshooting on that when I get it home and give it a bath. I'm guessing distributor O-ring.
First things I plan to tackle (after the oil leak) will be going through and fixing any driving issues (brakes, lights, wheel bearings, etc - whatever needs done)... after that, a massive cleaning and swapping out all the fluids. Basically get 'er running nice so I can haul yard waste and lumber this summer.
Future plans - nothing over the top right now - headers and exhaust (thinking 3-inch single) and body work. I spent a big chunk of time on the POR-15 site today. I think they are going to get a lot of my money.
Have a good week!
