rear chrome sport bumper questions?

Post by 72ranger »

I just scored a rear chrome sport bumper (the type that looks like the front bumper) and brackets for $100 out of a bone yard. I figure they sell just the brackets for $80 on ebay, so it had to be a good deal bumper is in decent condition.

my question is it came off a 74 f100 4x4 and the brackets are 37 inchs apart, and on my 72 f100 2 wheel drive with a big ugly step bumper, my brackets are 34 inchs apart. are the brackets the same? so if i buy a new rear bumper in the future would they work? for now i plan on making some type of bracket so i can use it for now.

anyone got a good picture of the brackets?

I asked the same question a while back as I was having no luck finding the correct rear bumper and brackets. One of the members said you could inst spacers between the brackets and it would be fine.I finally did find a chrome rear bumper and brackets.

From what I understand....no, the brackets and bumpers are different, in that they can't be mixed/matched. You can get by with the '74 bumper/brackets by using spacers between the brackets and the frame.
