How do you guys think this would look. I am planning on smoothing the inside of my bed ( like the picture below) and have mounted the gas tank above the spare tire. But instead of the gas filler door like the picture, I am thinking about using a motorcycle Pop-Up Gas Cap like the one in the bottom picture. I think it would be a lot less noticeable.
randle, where do you come up with these ideas? that looks awesome, i myself was looking for a way to make the filler door not noticible. either one of them looks good to me you should write a book on all these ideas you have, i know i would buy it
I think it would look good so long as you can make it work.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

I like that idea . Keep in mind a cycle tank neck fuels into a virtually open vessel , the truck tank neck feeds into a tube type opening, and with the new recovery set ups on the gas dispensing pumps this could create a fueling concern. I only brought this subject up because of an experience I had.
In about 99-2000 I was a member of the local VFD, our EMS dept suffered the loss of an out dated back up ambulance and had just order a pricey new one , our frontline that we were running caught fire and another ambulance company offered us a deal on a demo unit that was totaly state of the art and had quite a few prototype accessories , one being their redesigned fuel filler access "hatch " which used a marine type neck integrated into oem tank accessories . Long and short the blamed thing took forever to fuel (ems service "not good") and would never completely achieve a full tank (rural ems "not good" too). they ended up redesigning and using factory necks ,filler hoses and mounting. Even then due to the body config. and hose routing truck never fueled right.
Sorry so long just thought I'd share

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.
Sorry to take so long to reply, but I put the wife in the hospital Saturday morning and we just got back home, everything is OK for now.
To explain what I am doing a little more, I have already modified a 73 frame to install my body on, this will give me front disc brakes plus the gas tank above the spare tire. It will also put the rear axle the same width as the front. The motorcycle filler can be welded to the top of the 73 filler tube with a little modifing.
