Pickup Box Trailer
Has anyone made a pickup box trailer out of their bumpside? I'm considering buying a '69 3/4 ton parts truck and I'd like to make a heavy duty pickup box trailer out of it. My sense is to cut and bend the frame rails at the rear most cab mount. How far forward would I cut the frame rails? It looks like maybe just behind the front coil spring mounts? Are there any plans floating around on-line?

Cut the frame rails as far foreward as possible.
there is a hole in the side of the frame just foreward of the rear cab mount, cut the top and bottom flange of the frame there. use a come-along to pull both sides together. insert a piece of 2" OD x 1/4" wall tubing into the 'V' created by the rails, (I shoot for about 3.5 to foot from the bed for clearance) and trim the rails if needed. Line it all up and tack it in. double check it 2 or 3 times before and while you final weld it, cause it will distort on you as you weld. Reinforce the 2" tubing at the rear. Weld or bolt a coupler on the front end of the 2", install safety chains and a jack, wire the lights and go register it.
Its that simple.
I have one here I can take pics of if that didn't make any sense.![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_laughing01.gif)

i made one for a neighbor, i cut the frame 3" before the bed, and made a tongue out of 3" channel, and 3"x1/8" square tubing, welded the tongue to the frame rails, and welded the box to the frame, then wired it.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

re: Pickup Box Trailer
Hey guys, this should be done as a tutorial, hint hint.
While it is a relatively simple project, some of us are indeed "relatively simple" and need this kind of tutorial.
