Don't know how true it is but I heard that if you use ladder bars on a leaf spring rear suspention, you need to install a rear axle floater kit. I saw some for sale in the Summit catalog item #CEE-2030

Hey 460Crew,

Who makes that setup in the picture you posted?? (the one with the ladder bar like deal and the weld on rear end brackets, with the dedicated cross member)

Thanks

my kit is from competion engineering, having problems getting them to send me the right floater kit, they keep sending the one that does under the axel housing, they make the one for the top but have sent wrong twice. Other than that, pumpkin and axels are installed and drive shaft is made. Waiting on radiator and ps lines also.

I would MUCH rather see a 3 or 4 link under these trucks. Especially a daily driver. Ladder bars are essentially "bolt on" 2 links, can be welded though. They dont allow any articulation past what the links can flex safely. Hence why they are good for drag racing. Keeps the rear end as flat as can be, while still having squat at the line when launched. If it is a daily, go with a 4 link.

its not a daily, and I do not want the expence of a 4 link. The ladder bars will help it hook when I do get on it. This will no way be a cornering machine, I'm scared of the power now in a straight line. burn outs and doughnuts should be easy.

Have you thought about moving your leafs inboard of the frame ,and
then use the ladder bars under the frame, then fat, wide, rear tires, for even more
traction!

8) 8) :)

Wally WO
Cut ( FOUR ) pieces of an old ford truck frame that has been junked, fit them to the inside of your good frame, add weld and bolts, the leafs are now inboard, time for the (big WIDE tires)!

Oh yeah (Tubbs)

I like the stance and profile now, I will not lower it and keeping the wheels that have been on there since 1970 is something I wanted to do.

i personally think the extra 100 bucks in a 4 link is money well spent, but if you have no inclines you drive on then 2 link will work fine, just don't care for them personally.
