Grommet Question

Post by qman »

72 F100 2wd. I have a couple holes in the firewall that are about an inch and a half in diameter. I figured there are grommets for them but haven't seen any in junkyards and those I've taken off newer vehicles never fit. Anyone know where to get new ones?

Are you looking for grommets (for wires to pass thru) or plugs (to seal the hole)? Either should be available at the local hardware store.

Dennis Carpenter sells the rubber plugs for the firewall. They have three sizes that range from $1 to $3.

As for the round firewall plugs, just head down to the local bodyshop, they'll have something to fit it. When I was converting my truck over to factory A/C, I had to put plugs in the existing heater hose holes. Stopped by the local restoration shop and they had several that would work, cost me a couple bucks apiece.
