Noice coming from Tires..............
I have a 69 F250. I had break work done when I bought the truck. All four wheels. New drums, rotors, the works. I also had new LT285/75R-16 Wildcat Radials A/T tires put on the truck. Ever since the tires were put on it sounds to me like something is scraping. I took it back when I had the break work done and everything checked out OK. I still hear the noice. My buddy said it's just the sound the tire makes rolling down the road and not to worry about it. Well I have the same tire on a 76 F150 I have and I don't get the sound. Maybe I'll worrying about nothing. Does this make any sense. The sound is a like a whop, whop. whop. The truck runs fine except for the noice. The only time I cant hear it is when I'm over 50 milese per hour. Thanks.

How do the brakes feel after the brakejob. Nice and responsive and a high pedal? Is it just the normal slight scraping sound of new brake shoes rubbing on the drums until youve got a few miles on them?

The shoes scrapped for about a hundred miles then got broke in fine. Nothing now when I stop. This is a different noice. It sounds like I can hear the wheels going around on the axle.

is it a low pitched hum, that varies with vehicle speed and changes a little with different road conditions? thats just the tires. A/T tires are noisy anyways, and even in my '99 Durango, I can hear mine.

I would go back to the shop that did the work and have them drive the car and make the final ruling. My

out of balance tires or the wheel bearings. check your bearing races and see if there is any grooves in them. You should put the bearing into the race, and apply pressure while spinning it. If you feel a rubbing, or a clicking noise, your races are shot.

I suggest that you check for tread separation. Tires might seem out of balance or out of round, retain pressure, and run okay but noisy as you have described. Look for any bulges in the tread or the sidewall. Over inflate the tires (don't drive on them) and check again. Return tires to normal pressure and check again. Replace one tire (the one that you think the noise is coming from) with spare or another tire and see if the noise goes away. You may have to switch all tires in order to find the bad tire.
