Pertronics Ignitor I kit

Post by f26yrn04558-72 »

I have just purchased a Ignitor I system. The directions are simple, My question is, I have 2 72 f250. In my High boy there is no condenser, and runs off the resistor wire. My camper spec has a resistor wire, and a condenser on the coil bracket. Should I have a condenser on both trucks? I noticed a part below The Voltage Regulator with a round plug that goes into the harness, It looks like a condenser, is it?

Your condensor should be under the cap n rotor... you kind of need it...

I don't know if the condensor on the coil bracket is real important. I kept mine on there. I think it is to cut the noise out of the radio.

The round plug under the reg is also for a condensor.

The one at the coil or voltage regulator was a noise supressior for radio. The one inside the distrib, was to absorb excess voltage from coil as to not fry out the points, I dont recall at the moment if it is needed with pertronix setup I would have to look at mine again to recall, it seems it is no longer needed since the microprocessor handles the voltage to plugs. The instructions should address this for install.

I must of had a long day, or too much feller fuel. I remembered that the cond. is under the cap, and after reading the directions again you are to remove the condenser. I installed the electronic kit in a matter of minutes. However I need to go find the neutral safety switch lever to run it. I wonder why some ford trucks I've seen a the junk yard do not have the condenser on top of the coil? Some have the mounting bracket, some don't. and the coil mount appears to be factory? Thanks for the replies
