3 Flashers?

Post by drosera88 »

I have three flasher plugs in my truck (1969). I've been trying to fix the turn signals and noticed and extra plug under the glove box, kinda tucked away. I've looked at the wiring diagrams and have been unable to find this 3rd flasher. From what I know, there are only supposed to be two flashers.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be for or if it is even factory?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'M going to guess at this. is it possible that what you have found is a disconnected hazard switch plug or the heater plug? if its not your discontiuned hazard switch. is your just under the dash? i think i heard tell that the plugs could have been in both places but only one was used. or is it just a two prong plug?

No, it's not the hazard switch. I made sure of that. If it helps, it has two white wires with blue stripes on them connecting to it.

i just went out and checked my spare 69 harness. white and blue stripe is coming out of the turn signal switch plug that goes to the column. i'm not saying that your wrong but are you sure that you have three flasher wire plugs? maybe its a spare for a camperspecial heavy duty type of flasher? i seem to remember something about a flasher being around the glove box area but i can't remember clearly what i am thinking of. white with blue is correct for flashers turn signals. i'look at the diagrams myself and see what i can find out.

Its not the small strand hanging under the dash, it's definitely a flasher plug. Also, my truck is not a camper special, definitely not. Also, I went ahead and plugged a flasher into it to see what happens, and found that when I apply the brakes, it causes them to flash very slowly. (about once ever 1 1/2 seconds) Still didn't fix my signals (dang).

Is your hazard switch in the glove box, under the dash or in the dash?

Wait could it be the relay for the camp special lights and cab mounted clearance lights?

My hazard switch is in the glove box. Also, I have no marker lights, no special lights at all.

You all keep mentioning the Camper Special. Do you think my truck might have come from the factory with the wrong harness? It's never been changed or swapped. I'm positive of that.

No, I'll bet they're thinking that since Camper Specials got the marker relay mounted on the upper kick-panel area behind/beside the glovebox insert, that the extra wiring you're seeing is for that.

I'm kinda wondering if the stock harness has been tampered with by a previous owner. It's looking like I'll be able to take a shop day this weekend, so I'll look over the half-dozen harnesses I have and see if I can find something that resembles what you're describing. Would it be possible for you to post a pic of that plug (although I think I can picture what you're describing)?

your not suppose to give the cat a bath in the sink. you do it in the toilet with the lid closed . and then flush it a couple of times.
