inaccurate temp reading

I installed an F750 gauge panel and am getting an inaccurate temp reading.

The temp gauge is getting some reading on it. When it is off the needle is way to the left. When warmed up, it is up to the bottom of the scale. I know the truck is running warmer than that. Even out of adjustment, the original gauge read warmer. Any ideas what's going on?

I still need to try a better ground for the AutoMeter tach. I'm thinking that's why it is a little bouncy. It too, seems a little inaccurate. It might be reading slightly low also.

do those have the same adjusment on the backs of them as do our regular gauge set ups do? if so do some adjustments per the instructions on the fuel tech page.

Do the ol' gauge test, pull the sender lead off and ground it to the engine, gauge should peg out.

No, fordman, no adjustment.

I will try the ground out test later, thanks 68f250. I never tried that before and was going to do a search to find out which wire I need to ground out. Now I don't need to.

They usually read too high.
Ck. it with a real thermometer in the radiator or a lazer temp gun and
note where your dash guage reads at 180. Baseline it.

I did the ground out test and the gauge works fine. I cleaned the terminal, the best I could, with Scotch Brite. I didn't start it so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it's better. If not, I'll pick up a new sending unit.
