Body filler?

Post by hillbilly67 »

Has anyone tried JB Weld for bodyfiller on a large area? I have had good luck on smaller stuff. The reason I ask is, we have such a range of temps here (40 above-40 below) that body filler cracks out after a short time. I have some good size holes at the bottom of my front fenders (just like all the others in this country) So I am welding in some panels and want to smooth them out.
Made my first million.....too bad it was mistakes..not dollars! Now pass me that crescent hammer.

it may work for what your tring to do . i would try to patch huge holes with it but it might work as a smoothing filler. don't they also make a plastic type of body filler that can be used like body filler. smokey might know more about that . its just something i heard fo when i was younger.

Use some kind of tiger hair by Evercoat. Tiger hair has fiberglass stands in it and should hold together much better. What ever dents you have though or holes, then you need to take out the dents the best you can and weld up the holes or else it WILL crack no matter what you put on there.

:yt: Bondo was designed to not be more than a 1/4" thick if its gonna be thicker than that you need to do more metal work. If you have problems with pinholes in the bondo try using a little bit of fiberglass resin in the bondo it will act kinda like a thinner and make it creamer. It wont take a lot of resin to do this either.
