Suspension Options

Post by rsjohnsn »

Hi all, I have been looking into my options for a lowered suspension on my '68. I am interested in the Mustang II but I'm not sure what I am looking at. I can install anything once I figure it out but I am a little confused about the MII. What all do I need? I know I need the crossmember which I have to order form a company but can't I get everything else from a local parts store or junk yard? Are all the parts MII OEM or are they modified pieces? Also what kind of rear suspension is everyone using with the II? I would prefer to keep the original frame without cutting it if possible. I have an extra frame that I plan on building and then swapping everything over as I finish. I am almost finished with the 390 so I need something else to do.

Thanks
Scott

You can buy your crossmember from Fatman Fabrications and go with MII junkjard parts which will be for your upper control arms, steering rack and coil springs, I would recommend you get some tubular lower arms just cause they bolt right in with no extra work needed. You will have to specify if your going to use manual or power steering so that they can send you the correct rack extender. Good luck.

What I am after for the rear is something to match the front. I don't want to install the MII and then stay with the stock rear. I also want to be able to lower it to match the front but I don't want to cut the frame if possible.

Thanks
