re: Keith's not lieing about lye
Hey that looks super cool. I guess I missed Keith's original tutorial. Can someone post a link to the thread?

how long does the mixed lye and water last? Can I dip some parts today, then use it again tomorrow or will it loose it's effectiveness?

re: Keith's not lieing about lye
I've only done a couple of pieces (got sidetracked by my engine giving up the ghost) but if your trim is like mine the stuff get's kinda funky after doing a couple of pieces - dirty like. I just figured it'd be better to mix a batch at a time to keep it clean. My main consideration however was not leaving it out in case my wife, daughter, or dog bumped it walking into the utility room.
One cool thing about the granules is that if it's not working fast enough you can just shake a little more in so that it starts fizzing and smoking faster.
I just rinsed the container out at night into some dead grass and hose that in for a couple of seconds. It dilutes pretty quickly.
As soon as I get the motor to the shop I'm going to start playing with the POR15 "Glisten PC" treatment. If it works it'll be less hassle and money than powder coating or anondizing.

re: Keith's not lieing about lye
I may give it a test run tonight. I spent some time pounding dents out of one of my headlight covers last night...sanding some of the more significant scratches with some 100 grit ( GASP! ) ...If I get a chance I may try to "burn" the rest of the crap off of them ..... ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
