Well thats one way to do it! Good thinking!

actually ,I had the exact same problem once. I just jacked up the truck by the bumper until the shock mounts were far enough apart to install the shocks.
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!

You wouldn't want to jack up my truck by the bumper.
While I was under there I noticed it only has a bracket on one side.

How many beers did that take? Come to think of it there was no duck tape or bailing wire either :D .

This is the kind I have:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Prod ... 39/c-10101
They are Gabriel 41058 Load Carriers.
This is the first time I have used them, so i can't give personal testimony, but I have heard they are supposed to help when the truck has a good load on it.
I got them off of eBay. Paid $9.95 each for them from Stocklifts.
I have some regular shocks for the front end, but I'm thinking I might wait and do them when I do the front disc brake swap, if I can.
I don't know why the pics aren't showing up all of a sudden??!! :hmm:

(Edited 10-9-06 6:07 PM: I fixed the pics.)

Well.... the left side needed a little 'persuasion' on the top shock mount. :shh:

I used similar shocks when I was hauling my 5th wheel with an F100. truck was level with the load, and rode pretty good empty. Mine were rated at 1100 lbs.
