c-6 transmission durability
I am considering buying a 68 F-250 with a 360 and c-6 and Dana 60. Does anyone know how well this will pull a 7,000 lb trailer? I presently have a 72 F-350 dual wheel with a NP- 4SP and it does a fair job with the hills and valleys around Western TN. I know that they are suppose to do ok but I want to know if anyone pulls these kind of loads on a regualar basis with a c-6 and how well it stands up.

The C6 is a tough tranny. It'll pull any load you could reasonably expect the F250 to pull.
Do put a tranny cooler on it, though.

My new 88 F250 with a 7.3 had the last C6 in The F series. I changed the trans. fluid at home every 25k. With 296k on the truck and same trans. that was never touched I sold it to my nephew. I told him the fluid needed changed every 25k and it was due at 300k. He called me 6 months later with a broke C6 raising heck. I said I dont understand as I told you when you left to change it when you got home. His reply, well I was going to. Change the fluid or change the trans.. Make it light on your self.

The best auto in my book. Like said above a tranny cooler and frequent fluid changes will make it last.
