Ok, I'm looking into buying a better cab for my 68 project. Without a hoist or anything else, how many guys will it take to put a cab in the bed of my 71 short bed.
Will a cab even fit in the bed of my 71 short bed?
thanks
Austin

I just went out and measured the cab on the '68. No, it wont fit between the wheel wells. Turned sideways it will go in the bed but not between the wheel wells. You may want to get a U-haul trailer or something.

It depends on the guys... my best friend and I can move a cab without removing seat, tank, column etc... Of course we're both well over 6' and 275lbs.
I would say at LEAST 3 average sized guys to move it, and 1 guy to watch for snagged lines and wires... or things that didn't get unbolted.

Well I totally stripped my cab and I moved it by myself. Doors and all off. No glass. You get the idea. I turned it upside down and it fit in the bed no problem at all. Its a lot narrower upsidedown and the cowl clears the wheelwells. I borrwed (took) some old thick comforters from my wife, and stufeed them around for padding. Shes always changing colors so we have a few. I just put a piece or 2X6 to prop it up.

Upside down? You have got to be kidding me!
The cab I'm might be getting is already stripped of doors and interior, nothing much left, but the cab it self and some wiring. It is also already off the truck so there is nothing to get caught.
I'm going to think about the upside down thing. That might work. I will just have to tie it down really well and make sure it is really padded under the roof.
Also, fb2610, going out and measuring was way beyond the call of duty. I apreciate it.
