Do you have bias or radial tires on it? The bias will drag you out of a lane with the right rut in a hurry.

UH kev, are you talkin' about the bushing that goes between the frame mount and the sway arm? Cause if you are, that will give that side of the TWIN-I-BEAM about three to four extra inches of movement, forward and back!!! This will severely affect your steering, ride, and general good health.
I would get that fixed ASAP. Before you end up with a KIA Rio as a hood ornament. :D :D :D

 didn't see the missing bushing on the radius arm part of the post. Yeah that is a big problem and would cause a little crazy driving. Get that replaced or your'll get pulled over for drunk driving. :P Pics?

Hey Kev, park that thing and replace those bushings. Driving like that is really too dangerous.

At this stage Park it and rebuild the Kingpins, Tie rods and all bushings. I went through that myself. Only on the highway or above 50 it got bad. Starts with a tail wag and boom I was in the next lane.

Nothing on my front end had been changed except brake shoes and shocks since 1969.

also how does the Rubber between the steering box and wheel look? But definetly replace all the bushing real quick.

>I need to do it for my Gal as well and it is about $500 in >parts

Shouldn't be quite that much. I replaced everything
on mine, and it wasn't anywhere near 500 bucks..
I'd have to think about it to remember what it actually cost, but it was much less than 500, and I even had a machine shop press my kingpins. That included all bushings, including the pivot arms, and all new tie rod ends, and drag link, or whatever it was..

Lemmee see... About $60 for kingpins, plus maybe
$50?? or so for the machine shop.
Axle pivot bushings "stock" are about $20.
Radius arm bushings "stock" about 5-6-7 bucks each.
I think the drag link and tie rod ends were maybe
125-150 tops??, but would have to find the paper..
Thats about it, except a bunch of sweat..
Actually, it's not really as hard as it looks once
you get the hang. I recommend taking the
whole axle off, and letting the machine shop
press out/in the kingpin bushings, and also the
pivot bushings. Dropping the whole axle is
pretty easy, but two floor jacks help when
lowering and also raising to hook back up.
Using two jacks lets you line it up, and not have to
manhandle the thing while on your back, and trying
to stab the bolts thru.. But you could do it with only
one, or maybe even none if you can hold the thing.

This is a Great Post -
I am going to replace my steering box (Manual) because I have a bunch of play in it - But I would like to redo all of the rubber under the front end as well. Does anyone have any photos of all that is discussed here? I am gung-ho to give anything a shot myself but I would like to at least have an idea of where I am starting.
Does anyone know if a front end rebuild kit is sold anywhere? Also, if the King-Pins are not Bend or severely damaged, is it possible to leave them on the axl and simply replace needed rubber?
