Brake Part

Post by SixManCab »

Does anyone know where I can find the "T" shaped metal part that comes out of each end of the wheel cylinder and pushes on the drum brake shoes? I've been to 4 different parts stores, and have checked on line. I haven't had any luck. I can't even find what the part is called.

My originals are rusty (to the point of not even being able to be reused), and as long as I'm replacing the entire brake system, I figure I might as well replace these.

Thanks!

Page 46 of the National Parts Depot catalog Item 2042-1 Shows the older ones. You might want to give them a call at NC 800-368-6451 or FL 800-874-7595. They are listed in Links and Resources.

Try soaking them in a bottle of coke. My truck is so rusted (came from Chicago) that even those looked worthless but they work fine after cleaning them up a little.

I saw those. Thanks for the tip. I'll give them a call. A few of mine would be fine just cleaned up. I'm missing a few others, and a couple are corroded at the end that goes into the cylinder so bad that they just crumbled when I took the brakes apart! My truck's from Northern Minnesota, and had been sitting outside for quite a while. The brake lines were so rusted they literally fell off in my hands.

I gave NPD a call, and they didn't have the parts available.

I ended up going directly to Ford. They had them in stock--$3.20 each. PN C6TZ*2042*H they call it a "Link".

CarQuest carries them H1421, I believe, about $12 per set of 4.
