Chrome gas door

Post by Fordfool »

Has anyone ever considered using one of these chrome gas doors on their pickups? My aluminum ones were SHOT so they are gone, but I am probably going to go ahead and find some new gas tanks and use the holes for gas fill. I was going to have them filled in, but I think three tanks would be cool to have after all.

I would find some square aluminish ones when I got ready tho. Round would be cool too if they were large enough to cover the hole.

Keep in mind that the item in that auction isn't an actual door...it's just a door cover, something that's taped  over an existing filler door.

How close would the ones from the 73-79 f-series trucks look on the bump body?

i had also considered taking one from 73-79. it would look the same on our trucks as it would look on any other you would just have to cut the whole door and part of the bed side out of the 73-79 bed with enough extra metal to be able to put it back on to our years. by the way i found a 73-79 4x4 that has a plastic aux tank and a shield around it. i am going to take some measurements and see if it will bolt to my 68.

Hey Fordman are your saddle tanks in pretty decent shape? I might need a couple good ones...Although some good plastic ones would be great if they fit...
