gear change

Post by foghorn »

I changed the pumkin out and went from 3.50 to 2.50 and thinking maybe i went to tall a gears. I had a choice of the 2.50 2.75 and 3.00. Think i might go back and get the 3.00. It just seems that i'm having to keep in it just to keep it rolling. Just gonna have to see what kinda gas mileage it's gonna produce. In a few days when it dry's up some i'm gonna see how it does pulling my 16' fiberglass bass boat. I know some of you said to use the 3.00 and this more than likely be the end choice i go with.

Hey, ya lives, ya learns.
I bet most of us could write a book on all the stuff we've goofed up on these trucks.
I know I could.

I agree a 2.50 to high a ratio for a truck, or even a car in my opinion.

Well i hooked onto my boat last night and it seemed to pull it just fine. But i only pulled it for about 5 mi out to my storage unit for it. Like i said this is a small light fiberglass boat with a 48 special evinrude. I still got to get the floation foam back in and the floor relaid. This will probably add another 2-300 lbs depending on how much glassing i do going back with everything. :D
