Loose steering

the input shaft on the steering box has about an inch of play in it, what can I do to fix this or do I have to get a new steering box?

you can adjust your box. i know how in general but not 100%. there is a stud with a slot in it on the box and a nut on that stud . loosen the nut and i think you turn the screw in until you get the steering tighter. then tighten the nut back down. what you are doing is bringing the gears closer together when you adjust that stud.
