F600 hood/ cab compatibility 1972

Post by sharyn ferrick »

Hi
I have a 1972 f600 with a badly rusted hood/ cab, and I understand that there is a possibiity of compatibility with hoods for the pickups, I wondered if anyone might remember or have a list of body parts that might be interchangable. Hood/ Fenders/grill/Headlight etc

THANKS
SHARYN

As far as I know, the hood and doors will be about the only pieces of sheetmetal from a light-duty truck that'll fit your F600.

The cab might work with some modification. The F600 steering column goes down under the instrument panel and through the floor, whereas the F100-F350 trucks' steering column goes through the bottom of the instrument panel and then through the lower part of the firewall....so some cutting would be necessary to mount your column to a light-duty truck cab. However, the F600 hood hinges bolt to the cab firewall, whereas the light-duty truck hinges bolt to the inner fenderwell. Now, I've only seen pics of the F600 underhood area, so I could be wrong here, but it almost looks like the F600 hinges MIGHT bolt up to where the light-duty trucks' inner fender attaches. If so, it might be do-able.

So you are saying that we would need to take the light duty hood and bolt it to the fender vs the firewall? Are the 100-350 hoods all the same size?
Thanks

No, you wouldn't be able to bolt the light-duty hood hinges to the F600 inner fender, since they're different. If you just used the light-duty hood, you'd simply bolt it in place of your existing hood using your existing hinges.

All light-duty hoods are the same structurally.

Sure, go ahead and send the pics to Image and I'll take a look.

As for your question about tires, I have absolutely no experience with them, so I'm probably not a good person to ask. Sorry. :(

You could go down to your local tire shop and ask what tire has replaced the 8 22.5's

Thanks for the suggestion, did that, they say there is no replacement for teh 8 22.5 they then suggest the 9 which seems to be not only wider but taller

Thanks
