I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

re: C4 Question?
Sounds like a bad front pump. There is a way to test the fluid pressure but not sure how on a C4. I know on a C6 there are 2 plugs on the side of the tranny. One near the front and one near the rear. Just remove the plug and screw in a pressure gauge. Crank the vehicle, put it in gear and you should have a psi reading.

re: C4 Question?
I seriously doubt that, if the c-4 filters are anything like the c-6 ones it's really not a filter, just a wire mesh screen. You'd have to have totally munched your transmission to clog that up.
Things you can do though, check your band adjustment, I understand the c-4 has two bands and I think they are adjustable externally. But since it sounds like you don't have forward or reverse the adjustment probably isn't the culprit, but it can't hurt to check.
If you aren't able to pressure test like Randy suggested right away you can still pull a line and start the engine and put it in gear, (with someone on the brakes just in case!), and see if there's any pressure at all.
I've never worked on a c-4 myself, I have torn down my c-6 though and it's actually pretty simple inside. Maybe someone can tell us if the c-4s are just as simple to work on?

Does it go in reverse?

re: C4 Question?
As an afterthought, crawl under the truck and check out the linkage itself. Have someone work the shift lever while you're under there, (wheels chocked, don't pull a boner like I did), and see if the shift lever is moving properly. If so drop the pan and look at the other end of the shift shaft while someone's working the shifter, maybe the shaft itself came loose or stripped out or broken?

re: C4 Question?
I'm hoping its just a air lock of some sort. try running through all the gears for 10 seconds in each gear 3 time or so Like revers, drive, second, first X three. then top up the trans. and repeat if it doesn't work my bet its cooked.
WHAT ?
