Why weld up seams?

i was thinking of doing this to my truck but now im thinking of just using an epoxy...they sell metal to metal epoxies...im sure that will work like seem sealer maybe even better...

I caught the tail-end of "Trucks" this past weekend and they were cleaning up a patch panel that had been installed with panel adhesive instead of being welded. They were explaining that all of the excess adhesive that was exposed had to be ground off because the paint would not stick properly. It may dependent on what brand/type is used...
