Cutting springs on a '70 F100

As just an estimate how long would doing this take. If everything goes good.

If EVERYTHING goes good (dont' count on it) I'd estimate about two hours or so. Depending on how long the U-bolts have been in there.

What are some of the problems that usually arise? So i can be prepared for somethimng completely different. Or at least thats the way everything else goes with my truck.

Your U-bolts are going to be your biggest headache. Soak em with penetrating oil each day for a day or two before you do this. Get yourself a couple of c clamps and clamp the spring pack together right at the end of the overload spring so it doesn't seperate. They should be held together in the middle by a bolt. You may end up just having to cut it off if it's too rusty. Everything else is pretty staight forward.

So all the springs are being held together by a bolt? If i understand correctly i have to remove the bolt take out the helper spring and put the bolt back through?

I have heard that you can cut the front hangers on the rear springs and Flip them and rebolt them to get a 2-3" frop

10-4 It's a bolt right in the middle of the spring pack right above the axle. You'll have to get a shorter bolt to put it back together.
