I tried to post some before pics, but I couldn't get them to load. Something is wrong with my email--maybe thats it. I don't know. I'm not very computer savvy.

I don't know how you tell what size they are. I just scanned them and put them in my briefcase and tried to upload them from there.

Right click on it and hit properties.

If they are scanned they are probably huge (like 2300x1600 or something crazy)

I'm a big fan of House of Kolor (even since Jon sold out to Valspar)... been using it for years, but it's expensive! I had really good luck with the PPG that I used on my daughter's pickup, and plan on using it again. I've used Sikkens and it's great stuff. The important thing (and this is coming from an ex paint manufacturer here) is that you don't mix one company's paint and another company's reducer, and another company's primer and on and on... we had people call up with problems and usually we could trace it back to something like that. The companies spend LOTS of money, doing research and testing to ensure total and the best compatability of all their products... why not take advantage of that?? The people that think they know more than the manufacturers are just kidding themselves and costing you money in the long run.

if this is a stab at me, i will take it wit a grain of salt. we used plenty of different primers with different paints and didn't have problems when I was in school. Maybe we were lucky, but I don't think someone should HAVE to use a companies PRIMER because they buy their paint. reducer, thats an obvious company pair to paint, but i wouldnt say primer/sealer at all.

Nope...no personal "stab" at anyone...just some advice from an ex-manufacturer of paint... it's like all my advice...free, and worth what ya paid...but comes from experience on the tech-rep side of things. I know LOTS of people that mix and match...and it works fine for a long time... but I also know LOTS of things that go into matching components and charistics of mixes with eachother... some work, some work well, some don't work at all... I also know how much it cost us to make sure of total compatability between components, and we weren't a big company at all. I understand people's complaints and grudges about buying all one brand of something... but I've been on both sides of the fence. I've had a few failures myself that I finally traced back and had to admit were a "wrong" match way back when...but I've done alot of mixing of systems that worked fine...but I just hate to gamble anymore.

hardtailjohn, I know where you are coming from on not mixing one companies paint with anothers. A few years back we used Sterling brand primer with Valspar paint. We had problems with the shine and spider webbing. The Valspar paint rep. told us the mixing of one companies primer and their paint was the problem. We figured he was just trying to sell us his primer. Any way we tried his primer and used his paint. Instantly our shine came back and the spider webbing left.

valspar is a good product. imo dupont is the best for your money. also sherwin-williams has a product called sunfire its their answer to duponts imron. I did a 38 ford coupe and this guy didn't have a place inside to park it so it went out in the cow pasture. It sat there for 8 years and when he started to drive it again all he did was give it a hot soap bath and it looked like it just came out of the booth again. But IMO anything you can paint a piece of tin foil with and wad it up and flatten it back out and not crack the finish is a super product. But with imron and being black you will get 3 qts of color and 1 qt of activator or hardener. its the only paint that can hold up to nitro methane or dragster fuel and not blister or i call it cooking up. I mean like a lot of big companies are using imron on their big trucks for the shine and durability of it. This is a single stage system but you can get a clear coat to go over it if thats what you want but you wont ever need it.
Just do some heavy research and go with what you think is best to fit your needs. :D
