F250/F100 Conversion

Post by m donlin »

New to this site, so I apologize if asking a question covered in the past. I currently have acess to two 1972 trucks, one an F250 Camper Special (not such good shape, but good motor) and the other an F100 shortbed (better condition but bad motor). Plan is to swap motors; both are 390's.

My question. Will the front and rear suspensions swap direclty from F250 into the F100 chassis? Original plan was to lower F100 but now considering a "prerunner" style look. Both trucks are 2WD. The F250 has disc brakes and power steering. I realize the F250 frame is stronger, but I'm not looking to thrash the F100 that hard. Is this conversion reasonable (ie. remove and replace) or is this a ridiculous pipe dream on my part requireing major chassis mods?

Thanks in advance for any and all advise.

Why don't you swap the body from the f100 to the f250 and shorten the f250 frame to fit the short bed and if the motor and trany are the same then all you have to do is use the f100 drive line... imagine a short bed f250 :drive:

:yt: thats the way I'd go. the F250 frame is much stronger and you wouldn't have to swap the P/S, P/b stuff over (mostly).
But I'd go with a flatbed instead of shortening the F250 frame. more flexibility of use, and you can use the extra wheelbase length for stability on hi-speed runs.
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!

I think the suspension will interchange. I have heard of guys going the other way (100 suspension under a 250 frame)
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
