:hmm: by any chance did you grab the wrong master cylinder, Iam talking from experience and if you got one for single piston calipers and you got four piston caliper good luck nothing will help. also in the rear there is two different size wheel cylinders available :hmm:

other than that I would start at the master cylinder and re-bleed it

another good check is to get a buddy to pump the brakes until you got pressure, and with the master cylinder lid off release the brakes, if you see a very large spray you need to bleed the hole system, master and all. (remember its going to make a mess so be careful
WHAT ?

Does anyone have a pic of the rear drum brakes on an F250. I can't help thinking that maybe I screwed up when I did the brake job last year. I can't find a diagram or pic of how they should look. Wasted hours searching on google. I found all kinds of info on every brake made except what I need. If I could see how all the hardware is supposed to look I could eliminate that as a problem. I feel pretty foolish but this has me stumped. :hmm: :dk:

bench bleed the MC before you install it, and bleed all the lines. what i'd do is get a colored brake fluid, i got some that was purple, and i just bleed it till it was comming out purple, then you know all the old crap is out

Hello everyone,
Not sure if the truck in question is Drum/Drum or Disc/Drum :hmm:
I have seen this problem repeatedly with trucks that have 4 drum brakes.
Problem is: Pump, pump, pump.
Solution is: Adjust your front and rear brakes shoes out until you have a light drag on the shoes. (Do this with the tire on), and test drive on an empty street afterwards, sometimes they like to pull right or left with fresh shoes on front drums. Re-adjust accordling to get even braking at all four wheels.
I have seen this problem on disc/drum also.
Solution is: do a full bleed of all four wheels. Adjust rear shoes for correct drag.
If you still have a problem, check your rubber brake hoses, or the seals on the calipers. Look for leaks. Also check proportioning valve, make sure its not sticking to one side or the other.
If all else fails, continue to ask questions at a rapid pace, something will eventually work :D

Also maybe a bad wheel cylinder. Also IIRC There is a left and right cylinder for the front and the rear. Pretty shure it makes a diff.

And sometimes you have to exchange the master 3 or 4 times before you get a good one. Mine had a slight leak but still it worked. Also thinking here how good is your MC Cover Gasket? if it is bad it'll let air in.

i have a 67 with the dana 60. just replaced all of my lines it was a p-i-t-a, to bleed. 1st. i gravity bled, then pressure bled. be careful pump bleeding, even though your mc may be new to you,if it is remaned, when you pump the pedal be careful not to take the pedal all the way to the floor. when the pedal goes that far down the piston will hit an area that dosen't normally see, in turn you can damage the seal on the piston. causing the crappy brake pedal feel.

Thanks for the diagram Keith, I already see one thing that might cause my problem. Just got home from work, so as soon as I get a little sleep I"ll get started on it. Oh yeah, your paint job looks pretty nice too!

:D success, I took the brakes apart this morning and found a mistake on the right side (passenger side), I had hooked the adjustment cable up wrong and don't think they were self adjusting. Put back together, again-bled,again-adjusted,again, and I now have lots of brake. And it only took THREE trys! Thanks again for the diagram Keith, probably wouldn't have noticed the oops without it. :D
