Rust in the front trough/gutter/grate.

Post by Toothman »

Hello All,

I was reading a thread - http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... light=leak - by 72f100 about a leak coming into the cab through the front trough/gutter/grating (I'm not sure of the correct name to use). Unfortunately I have the same problem but the more serious issue of rust in there rather than leaves blocking it up :( . Has anyone had to get this sorted out before? I'm worried it's one of those areas that you just can't get in there to fix it, I'm gonna be pulling things apart on the weekend so I'll have a good look then.

Cheers,
Corin

Yes, rust in the cowl area isn't good. It's very hard to get in there to patch anything, except from up under the dash, but that basically means you have to completely remove everything under there for access.

How bad is your rust? And where exactly is it?

It's in the trough where the bottom meets the engine bay side, it's probably the only bit of serious rust in the whole truck!

Having it outside in the rain doesn't help either but no garage at the moment :(

It's one of those things that you know it's there and no one would ever notice it but it just plays on your mind
