wheel backspacing?

Post by zakt »

Does anyone know if the wheel backspacing on a 67' F350 would be the same as on a 95' F350... Im getting some new axles and wondering what width I should get of axle the 67' or the 95' width. I will be running 20x12 rims with a 40x15.5R20 tire so of course dont want any leaf spring hitting of the tire. The 95' axle is wider but want to tuck the tires under the truck as much as I can also with it being a 15.50 wide tire. I have a the rear 67' axle and a 95' axle so probably just should by the rims and tires and see how they fit with the 67' axle vrs the 95'?

The backspace on a 72 F250 is 0 backspace or half of the wheel width on stock oem rims.
Example 7" wide wheel = 3.5" hub centered or 0 back space
On my F100 the problem with wide wheels comes from the inside of the tire hitting the bed floor.
With truck jacked up and wheel off, run a straight edge across the hub set square and measure to the edge of the bed.
Also measure to the fender and that will tell you how big a wheel and tire combo you can run.
This F250 I measured the wheel from has the factory Super Camper special wheels on the back.
I think they are 10" wide.
As they were on the truck I couldnt measure the back space for you.
I do not know what width the later model rear end is you are looking for but I bet the spring hangers will have to be moved on it.
Hope this helps
